Tricksters 2014

A big thanks to everyone who attend Tricksters over the weekend, and to those that helped out. I would also like to extend a special thanks to Andrew Frost from Tannum Toys & Wargaming for his prize support and for bring his shop down for the weekend. I hope everyone had a good time and I look forward to seeing you all again next year, and possibly at a couple of other events through the year.

We had a very close run for first place between Daniel Stark and Damian Pygall with a 5th count back needed to separate them. We also had some fierce competition at the other end of the scores between Jamie Shirlaw and Dan Mackay for the wooden spoon prize of the giant lollypop.

Painting Techniques #1 Freehand Basics

Here is the first set of painting articles, these will be focusing on freehand basics. Much like the sculpting articles from the preceding post, many of the icons themselves may not be much use but many of the techniques are of use on many other projects.

Painting Crimson/Imperial Fist Icons from Bolter and Chainsword

I hope you can make use of what I have presented here. I know what I have presented so far is 40k centric, I'm on the lookout for some quality Fantasy and Warmachine articles to post but a vast majority of material out there is from 40k.

To Infinity ....... and Beyond !!!

This is a quasi-thought through, semi-competent attempt to bridge various social networking sites and provide the members of the Kingaroy Wargamers table top wargaming club a place to put forward their ideas and opinions that facebook's chatty format doesn't accommodate.

Another aim of this is to provide club members a gateway to the abundance of quality material out there including tutorials for various painting and sculpting techniques. This is an area that despite the fact we have a couple of members with 15+ years within the hobby, we don't have a great breadth of experience that we can call on in these areas. This probably has something to do with the fact that we are in a rural area with a relatively small community of players, and consequently don't have a great deal of personal exposure to the creative melting pot or resources a larger group and metropolitan areas can provide.

I'll also be promoting the blogs of local players like Trev's Triple Helix Project, Jamie's Toy Soldiers and my own Project Circle that I now operate jointly with Travis. I would also like to create a genuine blog network to accommodate this, but at this point I am still pulling a few ideas together so this will be covered in an upcoming post hopefully in the not too distant future.

Here's a look at the kind of things I'll be posting.
